Philosophy

My approach is created out of a strong belief that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn.

I have been trained my one of the leaders in the Industry who is internationally recognised and approved by the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants (APCS), an organisation whose mission it is to promote the highest standard of practice for the professional sleep consulting industry.

When parents choose me as their child’s sleep consultant, they are placing a great deal of trust in me, and I want to let you know that I take this responsibility very seriously.

Whilst most books and programs dealing with child sleep issues take philosophical stands (based largely around the issue of “crying it out”) my methods place much more emphasis on accommodating different parenting styles and supporting your child. You know your baby better than anyone, so we need to work collaboratively to get to the right sleep solution.

My Approach

THE WAY I WORK

1.

I will give you honest information about why sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.

2.

I will lay out an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan that lets you make some choices about what the right approach for your child is. All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do. I therefore encourage you to use your knowledge of your child to customise his or her sleep plan.

3.

I will show you how to measure success. No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep twelve uninterrupted hours on the first night — although it does happen! I will tell you what you should expect along the way.

A little note about “crying” – I am regularly asked if my solutions involve “crying it out,” I think it’s something that deserves to be addressed.

Please understand asking a tired child to do something in a new way can prompt some tears but there are ways of keeping them to a minimum and the plan I provide will always ensure you comfort, support and reassure your little one – every step of the way.

I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason my methods are so effective is that it lets you develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.

Working together as a team we support one another fix it!
